Care and Maintenance of your Sport BBQ
- Propane Models

Regular cleaning will ensure years of service
from your new Sport BBQ

We Recommend:
Clean your BBQ after each use! We cannot stress this enough. Failing to do so will result in residue build-up, making your BBQ increasingly difficult to clean, prone to grease fires, and much less fuel efficient.
Let the BBQ do most of the Work!
  1. After removing the last of your cooked food, inspect the radiating plate and inside the BBQ. Is there a lot of grease and food pieces that have fallen through? If so, extinguish the BBQ, let it cool, wipe up the excess and drain the drip tray before going on to the next step.
  2. Relight the burner if necessary. Turn to High and close the lid for no longer than 5 minutes (you can do this while you are eating, but don't forget about it!)
  3. When the smoke clears, carefully open the lid and use a brass or bronze wire BBQ brush on the grill to scrape off any remaining food residue. Close the lid again for 2 minutes until grill and burner look dry. Turn it off, and allow the BBQ to cool.

Very Important!
Once cooled, disconnect the gas supply. Remove the Grill, Radiation Plate (Extreme and Excel models only) and Drip Tray from beneath the BBQ. Clean in hot soapy water.
Almost Done!
Clean inside and out with a non-abrasive cleaner (such as Simple Green). Rinse thoroughly. Wipe dry. Reassemble, and protect with your Sport Brand BBQ Cover.
Models with Ignitors:
Be careful not to bend or move the Ignitor's wire electrode, near the burner on the inside of your BBQ. Should it become misaligned, carefully bend until wire end is 1/8" away from burner.
Seasonally
Clean hard-to-remove spills with spray Oven Cleaner - please read and follow manufacturers directions.
Remove your BBQ from boat, RV, patio, balcony, or wherever you cook. Remove or cover phenolic resin handles and knobs. Lay down several layers of newspaper in an area away from cherished surfaces, children and pets, where unit can sit undisturbed for several hours. Spray generously inside and out, leave, wipe and rinse as per Oven Cleaner directions. May need to be repeated if really dirty - the price you pay for not cleaning daily! Tsk Tsk!
Nice 'n Clean!
Finally, polish the outside with a Stainless Steel cleaner/protector
to keep it looking new!
